June 06, 2009, (Sawf News) - Getting a flat belly to go with your bikini has more to do with sensible eating than crunches in the gym.

Come summer and we all want to hit the beach with our bikinis and sun lotions. So what’s stopping you? If it is a fat belly, there is good news. It’s not very difficult to get into shape and have a hot bikini body.

A common myth that doing crunches can help you shed the fat is baseless; crunches just help in working the muscle. They do not burn belly fat.

The notion that sugar and carbohydrates are the main culprits behind those extra kilos is also totally wrong, says nutritionist Cynthia Sass.

It’s actually the Trans fats (in partially hydrogenated oils) in processed and fried foods that cause extra layers of flesh to get piled up.

Ditch processed foods and go with almonds and other nuts, olive oil, olives, avocado, natural butters, like peanut butter and almond butter; and dark chocolate. They are all enriched with mono saturated fatty acids and are a great way to reduce the belly fat.

People generally mistake a puffy belly for a fat belly. There is a difference between belly fat and a bloated stomach. Bloating of the stomach is caused by presence of gas which results in pushing the belly out a little but that would eventually pass out.

In order to avoid bloating, you should refrain from eating bloating food products like chewing gum, carbonated beverages, artificial sweeteners, gassy foods like broccoli, onions and beans.

So what are you waiting for? Work on these simple tips and flaunt a flat and sexy belly.
