June 07, 2009, (Sawf News) - Cosmetic surgery is intended to improve appearance, but the bruising experienced after many surgeries can be unsightly and embarrassing. Luckily, there are many ways to lessen the appearance of these bruises and help you feel confident again.
Concealing the bruised area with makeup or clothing choices is a popular option for many – skin colored foundation can be purchased easily and goes a long way toward minimizing bruising.
Often bruising can be completely hidden by creative clothing – for example, scarves, hats, and turtlenecks can be utilized to cover bruising around the face. Be careful if you choose to apply camouflage makeup. After surgery, the body is recovering from major trauma and is very vulnerable, so be sure to consult your doctor about what type of product you should use and when it is safe for you to begin applying it.
For bruises that cannot be covered by these common methods, another option is the recently developed Candela V Beam laser treatment. This treatment can significantly reduce the appearance of bruises.
The V Beam is a pulsed dye laser (PDL) which works by targeting bruised blood vessels in the skin with a concentrated beam of light. This destroys the bruised blood vessel without causing any damage to the skin itself – no scarring, no long term damage.
Sounds too good to be true? There is a catch. The treatment can be very expensive and requires multiple sessions. But if you absolutely need your bruises to vanish quickly and you can afford it, V Beam treatment is an attractive option.
Even though bruises can be embarrassing, it's important to remember that they will fade naturally over time. But in the meantime, you can utilize any of the methods discussed in this article to lessen the appearance of your bruises and enjoy the results of your cosmetic surgery.
