June 10, 2009, (Sawf News) - Palomar Medical Technologies Inc. (PMTI) has launched an ‘At home wrinkle buster,’ that promises to be an anti-ageing miracle.

The product has already got a nod from FDA sending PMTI’s stock up by more than 50%.

PMTI, a leading researcher and developer of light-based systems for cosmetic treatments, developed the product with Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), based on many years of studies and clinical testing.

Monica Neufang, a spokeswoman for Johnson & Johnson in Skillman, New Jersey, has refused to even release any image of the product fearing tough competition in the industry. "By sharing any other information, we would be telegraphing our intentions," Neufang said.

The new light-based home use wrinkle buster will help reduce wrinkles around the eyes, thus giving a more youthful look to a person’s face. The new invention uses technology similar to the one used by professionals for removal of wrinkles, with an added advantage of privacy of home and at a much cheaper price.

The only speculation in the market is how safe will it be to use a laser near the eyes without any training and practice.

Doctors perform laser surgeries using proper eye protection (special eye glasses) both for themselves and the patient. Does this product have all the necessary safe guards built in? What if you get distracted while working with the instrument?

The fact that it has been approved by FDA to be sold as an over the counter device, without a prescription, offers hope about its safety and usability.
