UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie participated in a discussion Wednesday, 26 Sep 2007, on the Promise of Education in Conflict and Post Conflict Situations as part of the third annual Clinton Global Initiative conference.

Other participants included the Afghan Minister of Education, the President of Columbia, and the founder of the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation.

The discussion was moderated by New York Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof.

Angelina was brought to tears as she recalled meeting an 8-year-old boy on her last trip to Syria who had been set on fire & dumped in the trash.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, tennis star Andre Agassi and media mogul Rupert Murdoch were among the celebrities on the guest list this year.

Only those willing to pay a registration fee of $15,000 and commit time or money to the focal issues of the conference are considered as possible guests.
